My media coursework magazine uses quite a lot of the conventions used by other real life media products, the conventions i used are the busy atmosphere of all the page, by using this busy atmosphere it entices the reader to look closer into the magazine to see what really is going on. The conventions of my media coursework product portrays the sub genre in which it entitled for this means that it is not just a music magazine but the use of brickwork and other "common" items such as the paper tags and graffiti suggests that it is a music magazine for everybody.
The media product that i have created pushes its self towards male-females of the low socio-economical end of today's society, this is shown through the brick work which has much graffiti on it, suggesting that it is not the cleanest of magazine but is up to date with today's modern times. Males in the magazine are represented to be the "stars of the show" no women are in the magazine, this is because they are on every photograph in the magazine.
I could see my magazine being produced as a local venue magazine for bands and groups. This would make my magazine self published to a small majority of the society to people who want to see it.
The audience that my media product would be forwarded to would be 15-25 year old men and women who see them selves as being in the "local band" theme, this means that they always go to see bands that are new and upcoming and in the area. My magazine would be used in the local venues to show what is coming up and what is happening with more favoured bands. I feel that magazines that are also in the similar category to mine are ones such as kerrang, however kerrang follows bands which are very large and have already "made-it", kerrang follows bands across the world to get inside in what they are doing whilst my magazine would only follow bands in the local area.
I feel i would attract the an audience for my magazine by selling it in the local venues to the 15- 25 year old people. this would make more appeal to the people who go to the clubs.
Through the concept of creating the magazine, i had learnt a lot of things about how to "photo shop" images i had taken with a camera. this involved me learning how to use the programme fireworks to get the desired effect i like. Adding affects onto images such as the band photo on the front page, like a shadow was increasingly difficult as i could not get the shadow to be life like. I feel that the software i used created the correct genre for my magazine as there is a burn tool upon it which i used for the effect on the number plate.
From my preliminary product i feel that i have learnt more about managing my time, this means creating more time and allocating different sections more time of the project, this links in with prioritising your time. E.g. I had to decide to use more time on the double page spread because it was bigger, or to use more time on the front page because it entices the customer. I feel that with better organisation of my time i would of been able to create better shots for the front of the magazine and all of its inside.
